Full Description & Contact Information

To date, Making Cents has:

- Strengthened more than 4,000 business consultants, trainers and teachers that specialize in entrepreneurship education and business development. By leveraging technical expertise in program design, assessment, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and training services, Making Cents helps its clients offer demand-driven products and services to the youth and small/micro entrepreneurs they serve.

- Improved microenterprise and SME policy environment by streamlining registration and licensing procedures and developing user friendly means to access information aimed at reducing corruption. Conducted organizational strengthening for associations, governmental and private sector institutions. Built the capacity of local consultants through Making Cents’ “Establishing a Viable Micro and Small Enterprise Training and Consulting Business” course. Produced studies on the Market for Business Services.

- Adapted its many consulting services to meet the needs of local users in 43 countries spanning the Americas and Caribbean, Eastern and Western Europe, all of Africa, the Former Soviet Republics, Asia and the Middle East. From needs assessment to program design and monitoring and evaluation, Making Cents’ consulting and training services are designed to ensure that the local institutions that use them retain the know-how and tools required to plan, implement, adapt and deliver effective services to their local beneficiaries over the long-term.

- Developed and implemented impact-oriented entrepreneurship curricula that make business sense because they: draw on experiential learning methodologies, are offered in a complete continuum of learning levels from 2nd grade through adult, and make special considerations for varying levels of literacy; target a variety of users from micro to small to medium size businesses; reach across sectors and sub-sectors such as agriculture and craft development; are available off-the-shelf or can be fully customized in content, graphics and language—in fact, they are now available in 20 languages including: Arabic, English, French, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish and the indigenous West African languages of Pulaar and Wolof.

- Taken the lead in the emerging field of youth microenterprise by creating specialized networks and learning opportunities that inspire youth, practitioners, policy makers, and sponsors to more effectively share and develop programs, policies, and partnerships that genuinely impact economic opportunities for young adults. Case in point: Making Cents International’s September 2007, Global Youth Microenterprise Conference, was the first ever gathering of the world’s leading experts and practitioners in youth microenterprise, entrepreneurship, and livelihood development.
