How do I create a GROUP in EntreOasis?

Some collaboration websites allow you to create GROUPS for people to join. Joining a GROUP may provide access to additional resources and information that is not available to others. Can this be done on EntreOasis?

There is no “Group” setting in EntreOasis, but any member can create an informal “group”. Here's how:

(1) All group participants must be members of EntreOasis.

(2) One member becomes the Group Administrator (it can be any EntreOasis member – or create a new EntreOasis account specifically for this purpose).

(3) All the other members of the Group become Friends of the Group Administrator. (Group members do not have to be Friends with each other, they only have to be Friends with the Group Administrator).

How to hold a PRIVATE group conversation:

(1) Anyone can start a private group discussion using the Ask Question feature, but in order to keep the conversation private to your Group, the Group Administrator must post the Question.

(2) When posting a Question, set the Privacy Setting to “Friends: Visible to me and my friends only”

(3) Anyone who is a Friend of the original poster will be able to see the Question and respond to it.

(4) To respond - write your comment and select the "Friends" privacy setting.

(5) Any reply to the original Question/Comment will be visible to all Friends of the original poster.

How to allow group members to create their own private discussion threads:

(1) Group Administrator creates a Question called "General Discussions" and sets the Privacy Setting to “Friends: Visible to me and my friends only”

(2) Any Friend of the Group can initiate an independent Group conversation, by responding to the General Discussion with a Question or Comment of their own.

(3) Now, other Friends of the Group can respond specifically to the first Friend’s Answer/Comment – thus creating a unique conversation-thread.
(4) Create as many conversation-threads as you want. Only Friends of the Group will be able to view or participate in those conversations.

Yes! You can create a GROUP like this:

(1) Create a NEW membership account for your group. Note that you will need a unique email address for this new account; ie, the email address that you are using for your own EntreOasis account cannot be used to create another account.

(2) Once your group account is created, you should login using the group account login and customize the myOasis page to reflect the information for your group.

(3) Invite other EntreOasis members to become FRIENDS of the GROUP. (If other people are not already members of EntreOasis, they have to first create a free membership account.

(4) As the group owner, you can now post new information on EntreOasis and choose to only make it available to FRIENDS of the group (via the Privacy Setting).

At this time, Friends of the group cannot post information exclusively for other Friends of the group. Only the group owner can do this when logged in using the group account. If you have a large group, EntreOasis administrators can connect all your group's Friends together to allow them all to share resources within the group - contact EntreOasis to help with this.
