Twitter becomes a great business tool when you have a strong community of followers who are interested in what you have to say.  To achieve this you have to start building up your Twitter network today. For newcomers, this can be a daunting task. Mark Shaw, from Your Business Channel explains how to expand your network and build a Twitter following.

If you're new to Twitter, Shaw recommends you review Twitter etiquette and learn to follow it.  To build your following you must find individuals with the same interests as you. There are three applications to help you do this:
  • Tweepsearch.com, allows you to search for keywords in user bios
  • Twellow.com, the equivalent to the Twitter Yellow pages, in which you can search people by geography and keywords used in bios.
  • Twallow.com, allows you to target keywords and auto-follow people who are talking about topics you are interested in
